London, England/london2B-026Previous | Home | NextSt. Paul's Cathedral, built in 1708, is a prominent landmark, being on the highest point in London. Crane's Court was the site of the Royal Society 1710-1779. The Temple, mentioned in Sherlock Holmes' stories, was the site of Tennant's living quarters, where he conducted chemistry classes and laboratory work; he discovered iridium and osmium here. The Victoria Embankment is drawn to help the "Rediscovery" scholar fit the old street layout to modern maps; today there is a street called "Victoria Embankment" which follows the Thames River for a length of 2 km, from Blackfriars Bridge to Westminster (see next photo). |
